Naming Conventions

Briards in the U.S. follow a naming convention that specifies the letter to start the name with depending on the year. 2000 was an ‘E” year, that is all pups born in 2009 had names that begin with the letter “E”, 2010 was an “F” year, 2011 a “G” year. 2012 is an “H” year. In addition, we always put our kennel name at the beginning of the dog’s name. Sometimes we have themes for our litters and the naming convention will be restricted even further for that litter. This applies to the name that we will use to register the pup with the AKC. You are free to call the pup whatever you wish. However, it is our hope that the call name given will reflect well on the breed and the breeder.
